In which Mr. Johnson and Vox discuss hermetic mages, shamans, and aspected magicians in the third installment of the Shadowrunner Dossiers. There is exciting news on the Shadowrun Returns front, Critter Corner covers Spirits, and there is an extra-long listener story to make up for the extra-long absence!

All right!
Going to do laundry, then get a Tim;s extra large double double and a pack of smokes, and eagerly chain smoke through the cast!
Chain smoking ftw.
excellent session.
The story was a shining example of the golden rule, trust nobody.
Hey there, admire your gumption for making a podcast. I do have a few items of constructive criticism (since you asked for it earlier on).
Know the rules before you record. I know it’s a new edition, but it destroys your credibility when you waffle on/ don’t know/ get the rules wrong. (See the materialization power for how spirits resist damage. All spirits have it.)
Also, sometimes you guys sound uncomfortable.
Other than that, I really look forward to your episodes. I really enjoy the war stories and critter corner. You are both really strong with that stuff. If you ever want to do a series on optimization and how to create characters, I’m pretty good with that so hit me up if you’re interested in a helper.
First off…I’ve been enjoying the podcast and have pointed my players in your direction. The episodes are great introductions to the setting & mechanics and you give great insights on how to play a shadowrunner. Keep up the good work.
However…this one was not nearly up to your usual par. It came off as confused & confusing and demonstrated a rather poor grasp of the 5E magic & spirit rules. Not all on you as these are among some of the most changed aspects from prior editions and can sorely use some clarification. For example, spirits are not at all nerfed – they are still extremely tough to deal with. Reference the Manifestation critter power (Resistance to Natural Weapons is there) on pg 398 and then the Immunity section & Hardened Armor on the prior page. They are quire tough to hit for any damage.
Carry on 🙂
Hi Johnson and Vox,
You made a mistake in your Critter Corner. Spirits ARE immune to normal weapons, they roll 2x their force as defense. See the manifestation power.
FYI.

Sadly the player of Amy Died in real life but at least this story of the player lives on.
Oh no! Our condolences to her family and friends. 🙁
